TiviMate IPTV Setup (2026): How to Add Your Playlist, EPG & Best Settings

By View TV Support Team• October 24, 2026• 8 min read

TiviMate is a popular IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV, known for a clean channel list and a tidy TV guide. Getting it working takes a few minutes: add your playlist, let the guide load, then tidy up channels and playback settings. This guide walks through each step in order, and covers what to do when something does not load.

Like any player, TiviMate contains no channels of its own. It shows what your IPTV subscription provides, so use it only with a service you are entitled to access.

What You Need Before You Start

  • An active IPTV subscription. If you have not chosen one yet, our best IPTV subscription guide explains what to compare.
  • Your activation details: a username, password and server URL (Xtream Codes), or an M3U playlist link.
  • An Android-based device with TiviMate installed (see below) and a stable connection. Wired Ethernet, where your device supports it, makes the first sync more reliable.
  • A remote or keyboard. Entering a long server URL is much easier with a paired phone keyboard app or a USB keyboard than with an on-screen remote keyboard.

ViewTV sends Xtream Codes details and an M3U link after you order. Plans include 1, 2 or 3 simultaneous connections; see the pricing page.

Devices That Run TiviMate

TiviMate is designed for Android-based hardware, so it fits these setups:

On iPhone, Apple TV, Windows, Samsung or LG, use a different player instead. IPTV Smarters Pro covers several of those platforms, and our devices page lists options for each.

Add Your Playlist: Xtream Codes or M3U

On first launch TiviMate asks you to add a playlist. Menu wording can differ between versions, but the flow is the same:

  1. Choose Add playlist. You will be offered a choice of playlist types, including Xtream Codes and M3U playlist.
  2. Xtream Codes route:
    • Enter the server address in the form http://your-server-address:port, including the port number.
    • Enter your username and password exactly as supplied.
  3. M3U route: paste the complete playlist link. A cut-off link is a frequent cause of empty or failed playlists.
  4. Continue and name the playlist. TiviMate downloads and processes the channel list. Large lineups can take a little while on the first run.
  5. Finish. When the import completes, the channel list opens. Start a channel to confirm video and audio.

Treat your M3U link and credentials like a password and do not share screenshots that show them.

Load and Fix the TV Guide (EPG)

The guide is what makes TiviMate feel like a cable box. With an Xtream Codes login it normally appears after the first sync. If you see channels but empty programme rows:

  • Wait and refresh. The first guide download can lag behind the channel list. Give it a few minutes and refresh the guide.
  • Add an EPG source (M3U users). Open the playlist's settings and enter the EPG address your provider supplied.
  • Check date, time and time zone on the device. Wrong time settings make programmes appear in the wrong slot or not at all.
  • Match channels manually if a few channels remain blank. The app lets you assign a guide entry to an individual channel.

Organise Channels and Favourites

A lineup with thousands of channels is hard to browse unchanged. Spend five minutes trimming it:

Hide unused groups

Hide whole country or category groups you never watch so your list and zapping stay short.

Reorder groups

Move your most-watched groups to the top, such as sports or local channels.

Build favourites

Add the channels you use daily to a favourites list for one-press access. This may require Premium in some versions.

Check the channel catalogue first

Browse the channel lineup to know which groups are worth keeping visible.

Playback Settings Worth Checking

Names and locations vary by version and device, so look for the closest match in TiviMate's settings:

  • Buffer size: a larger buffer can smooth out an unstable connection, at the cost of a slightly slower channel start.
  • Frame rate matching: if your TV and device support it, matching the display refresh rate to the stream can reduce judder on sport and film.
  • Playlist and guide update interval: keep automatic updates on so new channels and programme data arrive without manual refreshes.
  • Audio track and subtitles: set your preferred language so multi-audio channels default correctly.

Free vs Premium

You can add a playlist and watch live channels on the free version, which is a good way to confirm your subscription works before spending anything. Premium is an optional upgrade that adds features such as multiple playlists, favourites, recording and catch-up where your service supports it. The exact feature list and pricing change over time, so check them in the app before you buy rather than relying on a third-party article.

TiviMate IPTV Setup: Frequently Asked Questions

Does TiviMate come with channels?

No. TiviMate is only a player. It does not host or include any channels or movies. You add the playlist or login details from your own IPTV subscription, and TiviMate organises and displays what that service provides.

Which devices can run TiviMate?

TiviMate is built for Android-based devices, mainly Android TV, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV, and it also runs on Android phones and tablets. It is not available for iPhone, Apple TV, Windows or Samsung and LG smart TVs. For those, see our guides for iPhone, Apple TV, Samsung and LG.

Should I add my playlist with Xtream Codes or M3U?

Use Xtream Codes if your provider gave you a username, password and server URL, since TiviMate can usually pick up the TV guide automatically that way. Use M3U if you were only given a playlist link, and add an EPG address separately if the guide stays empty.

Do I need TiviMate Premium?

The free version is enough to test your setup. Premium adds conveniences such as multiple playlists, favourites, recording and catch-up where your service supports it. Features and pricing change, so check the current list inside the app before paying.

Why is my TiviMate guide empty?

The guide usually fills in after the first sync, so give it a few minutes and refresh it. If you used an M3U link, your provider's EPG address may need to be added in the playlist's EPG settings. Also check that your device date and time are correct.

Summary

A good TiviMate setup is simple: install it on an Android-based device, add your playlist with Xtream Codes (or M3U), let the guide sync, then hide the groups you do not need and check the buffer settings. Most problems come down to a mistyped URL, a missing EPG address or a connection limit.
