Xtream Codes IPTV (2026): What It Is, How the Login Works & Fixing Errors

By View TV Support Team• October 29, 2026• 8 min read

If your IPTV provider sent you a server URL, a username and a password, you have an Xtream Codes login. It is one of the two common ways to connect a player app to an IPTV service, and it is usually the tidier one. This guide explains what “Xtream Codes IPTV” means today, what each login field is for, which apps accept it and how to fix the errors people hit most often.

Xtream Codes is only a way to sign in. It does not supply channels, and it works only with a service you are entitled to use.

What Xtream Codes IPTV Means

Xtream Codes was the name of a commercial IPTV management panel, software that providers used to run user accounts and deliver streams. The company behind it is reported to have stopped operating around 2019, but the way its apps and panels exchanged data had already spread. Many players and panels still offer the same style of login, so people still call it “Xtream Codes” or the “Xtream Codes API.”

In everyday use, then, the term means one thing: signing in to an IPTV service with a server URL, username and password instead of pasting a playlist link. Whether a particular service uses the original software or a compatible one is the provider's business, and it makes no difference to how you enter the details.

The Three Login Details

FieldWhat it isCommon mistake
Server URLThe address of your provider's server, often with a port number, e.g. http://server.example:8080 (placeholder)Dropping the port, or adding extra path text
UsernameYour account name, assigned by the providerConfusing it with an email address, or mixing up similar characters
PasswordThe password for that account, also assigned by the providerTrailing spaces from copy and paste

Both username and password are usually case-sensitive. Treat them exactly as written.

What the App Does With Those Details

When you sign in, the app contacts the server, proves who you are and then asks for what it needs: the live categories and channels, the movie and series libraries and the programme guide. It builds its menus from those answers. You never see the stream addresses, because the app handles them for you.

That is why an Xtream login often feels better than a playlist link:

  • One login, everything included. Live TV, movies, series and guide data can all load from the same account.
  • Easier updates. The app asks the server for the current list, so changes on the provider's side show up after a refresh.
  • Lighter on weak devices. The app can request sections as needed rather than parsing one enormous text file, which helps on low-powered boxes and sticks.
  • No long link to paste. Three short fields are simpler to type with a TV remote than a very long URL.

The trade-off is compatibility. Some players, such as VLC, only take playlist links, and a few TV apps only offer M3U. In that case use the playlist route described in our IPTV M3U playlist guide. If your provider gave you both, start with Xtream and keep the M3U link as a backup.

Apps That Support the Xtream Login

Support varies by app and version, so check the add-playlist screen in the version you have installed. The two we cover in detail both offer it:

IPTV Smarters Pro

Choose the Xtream Codes API login and enter a display name, username, password and server URL. Full steps are in the IPTV Smarters Pro setup guide.

TiviMate

Choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes, and enter the server address, username and password. See the TiviMate IPTV setup guide.

Which device you run these on matters less than the app itself. Our devices page and the IPTV on Firestick guide cover getting a player installed.

Xtream Codes Login and M3U Link, Both Included

ViewTV sends your M3U playlist URL and Xtream Codes credentials after you order, so you can use whichever your player supports.

How to Enter Your Login Correctly

  1. Open your player and choose the Xtream Codes (or “Login with Xtream Codes API”) option.
  2. Enter the server URL exactly as supplied, including http:// or https:// and any port number.
  3. Type the username and password. On a TV, use the on-screen keyboard slowly and check capital letters.
  4. If you paste the details, make sure no space is copied at the start or end.
  5. Save, then wait for the first load to finish. The first import is the slowest.
  6. Open Live TV, then the guide, and confirm both fill in.

Typing long details on a remote is the most error-prone step. If you can, enter them in a phone or computer version of the app first, or ask your provider whether a different option suits your device.

Keeping Your Login Safe

  • Treat all three details as a password. Together they are your account.
  • Only enter them in your player app, not in “checker” sites or tools that ask you to paste your account.
  • Avoid public lists of free Xtream logins. They are unreliable, often point to unlicensed streams and can be used to collect details from people who test them.
  • Hide them in screenshots and share them only with your provider's support.
  • Ask for new details if you think they have leaked or you see unexpected connection-limit errors.

Xtream Codes IPTV: Frequently Asked Questions

What is Xtream Codes in IPTV?

Xtream Codes was originally the name of IPTV management software. Today the phrase is mostly used for the login style it popularised: a server URL, a username and a password that a player app uses to fetch live channels, movies, series and the TV guide from one account. Many providers and players support it.

Is Xtream Codes the same as an IPTV provider?

No. Xtream Codes is a way of signing in, not a source of channels. The channels come from your IPTV service. The login only tells your player where to connect and who you are, and it works only with a service you are entitled to use.

What is the difference between Xtream Codes and M3U?

An M3U link is one playlist address that carries a channel list. An Xtream login is three separate details the player uses to request live TV, movies, series and guide data. Xtream is usually tidier in apps that support it, while M3U works almost everywhere. Our M3U playlist guide covers the file format in detail.

Where do I find my Xtream Codes server URL?

Your provider supplies it with your username and password, usually in the order confirmation or support message. It normally starts with http:// or https://, and may include a port number. Enter it exactly as given, including the port if there is one.

Why does my player say authorization failed or invalid login?

The usual causes are a typo in the username, password or server URL, a missing port number, an expired subscription, or an extra space copied with the details. Re-enter the details by hand, check your plan is active and, if it still fails, contact your provider.

Is it safe to share my Xtream Codes login?

No. The server URL, username and password are your account. Anyone who has them can use your subscription and may use up your connection limit. Keep them private and hide them in any screenshot you send for support.

Summary

Xtream Codes IPTV is a login method: a server URL, username and password that let a player fetch live TV, movies, series and the guide from one account. Enter the three details exactly, keep them private, and when a login fails check typos, the port number, your plan status and your connection limit before anything else.
